This annual event kicks off the season with several holly jolly attractions. Enjoy a night parade, lit up with dazzling lights. You’ll see the floats you love, cheery faces and you’ll hear plenty of Christmas music. Stick around for the big guy himself! Santa will be there to hear your Christmas wishes and take photos with the kiddos.

Race for the Boxers; Dress up for Prizes!

Boogie out to Schertz, TX next weekend and race for a good cause! If some of your favorite friends are four-legged, this race is for you. Rest your legs at Stone Creek RV Park and relax this fall.

boxerThe 5th Annual Boxer Boogie 5k/3k race will take place on Sunday, October 25, 2015 at 8:30 a.m. at Pickrell Park. Whether you’re a walker or a runner, come out and race with your family, including your dogs! There will be a costume contest before the race, so show us your best costumes, and don’t forget to help Fido dress up, too. You can win prizes from the contest, and you can also register for a timed chip in the 5k event, or just go for the fun run on the 3k track.

If you need something to eat, there will be free tacos, water and healthy snacks. The proceeds from the race benefit the Alamo Boxer Rescue. La Villita Holiday Open House

San Antonio’s holiday events will begin this week, and one that reflects the city’s cultural heritage is La Gran Tamalada and La Villita Holiday Open House. Those at Stone Creek RV Park who have always wanted to know how to make tamales will have their opportunity on Novemeber 24, when they can attend free tamale making classes at noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. in the afternoon. The festivity also features holiday shopping and local entertainment, as well as traditional food and drink. Also on this date, the Plaza Juarez will have folk and tango demonstrations.

Another local event launching the Christmas season in the River Parade and Lighting Ceremony that gets underway on the evening of November 23. You won’t want to miss this dazzling celebration.

Still another holiday event is the Nutcracker with the San Antonio Symphony at 7 p.m. on November 23. The Majestic Theatre will be the scene of this enchanting ballet set to beautiful music.

La Villita Historic Arts Village

La Villita, San Antonio’s first neighborhood, which was originally a settlement for Spanish soldiers, was transformed late in the 19th century when Immigrants from France and Germany moved into the area, erecting Victorian houses and other interesting architecture.
