pastrySummer is the perfect time for family picnics, campfire s’mores and hamburgers on the grill. The only thing that could make that meal even sweeter is a baked good from Naegelin’s Bakery. This historical bakery is actually the oldest in Texas, opened in 1868. Located in New Braunfels just a short drive from our park, this 142-year-old bakery is famous for fresh cookies, pastries, pies and cakes. Come take a bite of history and see for yourself!

The bakery specializes in preparation, utilizing recipes developed by the Naegelin family who experimented with several combinations until they learned the perfect ingredients. Enjoy the sweet smell of baked goods and a homey feel. You’ll have trouble picking just one treat to try, so grab several! You’ll also find sausage and fruit-filled kolaches, a Texan favorite. The bakery is open Monday through Friday 6:30 a.m. to 5: 30 p.m., and Saturday 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is closed on Sundays.

Grab a bite and enjoy New Braunfels attractions and concerts. Then come home to Stone Creek RV Park and relax for the weekend, or the week!

Veterans Parade

Campers at Stone Creek RV Park can join the folks in San Antonio in paying homage to our armed forces on November 10 with a parade involving military vehicles, military leaders and bands. A wreath-laying ceremony in Alamo Plaza will follow.

The Alamadome will be the scene of a college football game on the afternoon of November 10, when the University of Texas at San Antonio Roadrunners will take on the McNeese State Cowboys. College football fans will enjoy the game as well as the band spirit walk.

Singing the Blues Music Festival

Augie Meyers. Grammy award winner, will be the featured singer at the Singing the Blues Music Festival on October 27 at the Sunken Garden Theatre in San Antonio. Campers at Stone Creek RV Park who attend this event can also listen to the performances of Ruben V and Bobby Mack while they enjoy South Texas food from the participating vendors.

On the evening of October 26, The Playhouse in San Antonio will present Greater Tuna, a hilarious play set in the fictional town of Tuna, Texas. The production is sure to keep you in stitches as the actors portray eccentric characters in a story that is a mixture of satire and affectionate comment on Southern life.

Back in Schertz, when you want a meal out, try Abel’s Diner, an eatery with fresh, delicious homemade specials. The good home cooking and attentive service is a winning combination.
